Activities when you want a break from the slopes

Skating, swimming, science centre or shopping. Those are just some of the things to see and do in Falköping when you want a break from the slopes.

Animal park and play areas

The animal park is located by the lookout tower at Mösseberg. The park is home to a variety of different animals and several play areas. Not all the animals will be out and about in winter, but if you’re lucky you may see goats, fallow deer, donkeys, horses and sheep.

Adjacent to the animal park are two fun play areas. If you want to bring along your own picnic, there are benches in the park and also five barbecue areas. Remember to bring your own charcoal or similar, as you will need to light and extinguish the barbecue yourself. At the service centre on the mountain plateau you will also find a play area and barbecue area under cover.

Toboggan hill

Fun and games in the snow are always a hit! On the road up to Mösseberg (Scheelegatan) you will find a toboggan hill with lots of great bumps.

Elk and bison

Come and see the King of the Forest – the elk! Around five kilometres from the town you’ll find Wrågården, home to elk and fallow deer. You can take a walk (approx. 20 mins) around the enclosure where the elk roam, in company with the resident herd of fallow deer. And don’t forget to check out the large bison in the neighbouring enclosure. Bison safaris are available if you want to find out more about these majestic creatures, or for a more active option, you can book for a game of padel.  www.wragarden.se

Family swimming complex with whirlpool

The family swimming complex offers a whirlpool, water slide and children’s pool. Young children can play and have fun in the children’s pool and heated pool, while older kids are sure to enjoy the whirlpool and water slide. There is also lane swimming and a relaxation zone. www.odenbadet.se

With an exciting mix of interactive installations, experiments and science shows to awaken your curiosity, creativity and desire to experiment. For example, you can build with giant Lego or tackle a laser course.  www.dalenium.com

Fascinating museum

Come and discover the fascinating exhibition “Ancient times in Falbygden” with melting ice, Scandinavia’s oldest domestic dog, the young Raspberry Girl sacrificed in a bog and the story of the gold collar from Ålleberg. www.falkoping.se/museet

Bowling and shuffleboard

Bowlingstället offers several lanes for bowling, and shuffleboard, which involves shooting a small stone (puck) down the table with the aim of ending up in the highest-scoring zone.

Cheese and more

Purchase some tasty treats for a cosy night in at your cottage! Just a few hundred metres from the slopes, you’ll find Falbygdens Osteria. The shop stocks products from both local makers and selected producers from other parts of the world. Browse the 25-metre-long cheese counter and find your own favourite, or visit the restaurant and buy a cheese and deli platter or baked goods to take home with you. www.falbygdensosteria.se
