KARL XII:S VÄG
Färgelanda

Hiking trail with historical roots

Karl XII's road is the most well known hiking trail at Kroppefjäll. The trail extends directly over Kroppefjäll on historic land. This is where Karl XII and his Carolines are believed to have traveled on their way to Fredriksten's fortress in Norway.

Starting from Soldattorpet Bräckan, Järbo.
The 15 km long marked and in its places the trail stretches between Järbo in the municipality of Färgelanda and Dals-Rostock in the municipality of Mellerud.

Rest stops

About halfway (approx. 7-8 km from Järbo) is the cozy resting house Karolinerstugan, which is open to the public all year round. The cottage is also popular as an overnight stop and is equipped with outdoor privy and woodshed with wood for the fireplace.

You can also relax in the old soldier village "Bräckan" in Järbo, which is open year-round. Outdoor privy is a bit away towards the parking lot.
