The Victoria-path
Lysekil

An accessible space for sea views

The Victoria-path was Lysekils municipality's gift to the Crown Princess couple at their marriage in 2010. This is a paved road that meanders along the mountain to a stunning lookout spot with views to the sea and the horizon.

Just above Campus Vest, Lysekil's newly built upper secondary school is a parking lot. This is the starting point for the trail leading out to the spot. The idea behind this is to keep the accessibility in memory at all times. The path leading to the sea is paved and is therefore suitable for those who want to go, those with a stroller and those who are wheelchair bound.

Once you've walked the path, you will reach a great location with a view to the horizon. A great way to experience the special nature and the Bohusgraniten in Stångehuvud.

The location is not far from the "Fort of Galleberget", which lay in the northernmost parts of the mountains that constitute Stångehuvud. This is part of an important part of Lysekil's history, the World War II era. At Galleberget there was a searchlight battery, three headlights used to detect hostile airplanes, and an ant-aircraft-battery. At Victoriaplatsen there is an information board that tells about events that took place during this part of history.

Lysekil was also an important player in The Ball Bearing Run during the Second World War, where Swedish ball bearings were exported to Great Britain. Lysekil also acted as a port for transportation from the UK to the Danish resistance movement.
