An active association on Torsö island

Torsö hembygdsförening (Torsö home village association) is an active association that operates on Vänern's largest island. The association's premises at Sandbäcken in the southern part of Torsö is the hub of the activity. The association also takes care of Hulan - Torsö's oldest farm.

Torsö Hembygdsförening has most of its events at the Sandbäcken homestead. During the summer, there is a cafe here that is open on Sundays, with home-baked coffee bread and waffles and more.

Hulan

Hulan is Torsö's oldest farm. An old fishing rook that has been untouched since the 17th century. The croft was mentioned as early as 1695, and they have managed to obtain an unbroken length of ownership. The farm has been equipped and here is part of the association's collections. All items have been inventoried and catalogued. Some things have remained since the farm was built. Getting to Hulan can be difficult if you are disabled as part of the way to the farm is on a slightly uneven path through the forest (about 100 meters).

Local museum

In the association's museum, you can see everything from home-made rat traps, various tools and housewares to Torsö's old fire brigade and a Torsö snipe with the sprinkler sail raised. The museum is housed in the barn next to Torsö community center and is open in connection with the midsummer celebration at Strandvallen and by appointment. There is also an archive with pictures and clippings that concern Torsö.

Hiking

Join one of the association's joint hikes. Or discover the hiking trails on your own. From Sandbäcken starts the Trollstigen, which is an short, but exciting, adventure for both young and old. From here is also start of a long hiking trail that follows Vänernäs shore from Sandbäcken all the way to Laxhall.
