Torsö church
Torsö

A church of stone on the largest island in Vänern

A white church in stone built 1838 out on the beautiful island Torsö.

This church in stone was built on the same spot where there earlier had been a medieval stone church called Wisala Church from the 1100's or 1200's.

In the new church there's an altarpiece from 1954; a polychrome wooden sculpture by sculptur Arvid Bryth from Mölndal. The altarpiece depicts the large fishing business in the Gospel of John (chapter 21).
