Flämslätt invites you to enjoy well-organized nature with many activities to choose from. There is a large swimming area, playground, nature trail, rowing boats and canoes for rent, barbecue areas, and big grassy areas perfect for picnics. Apart from spending time on the lake, it’s also beautiful to hike all the way around it.
Since the 1950s, young people have come to Flämslätt Diocesan and Conference Centre for confirmation camps. The centre is owned by the Church of Sweden, but everyone is welcome to swim or simply relax and reflect under the chestnut trees, lindens, and the enormous copper beech by the water.
The waters of Flämsjön are exceptionally clear, and the lake is rich in fish.
Another way to experience the lake is to follow the Flämsjön Runt Trail, a nine-kilometre hike that takes you through everything from rolling pastures to northern-style conifer forests from clear-cuts and summer cottages to cloudberries and the whisper of deep woods. On the western side of the lake, the trail passes through Remningstorp Arboretum, with tree species from across the northern hemisphere, planted in the 1930s. Here you can see and read about species such as purple spruce, hybrid larch, red oak, Manchurian walnut, Chinese redwood, and Japanese magnolia. You can also follow Wingquist’s Trail to discover more of the arboretum, it’s well signposted and easy to follow.
