Find out what a cone ladder is!

A warehouse at Remningstorp houses a rather unknown museum – the Chainsaw Museum. Here, many objects historically used in forestry are on display.

The museum was founded in the 1980s by two teachers at the Sparresäter School, Helge Samuelsson and Sven-Olof Larsson. The intention was to showcase the development of forestry, from the horse-power days to present time.

The collection was moved during 2018 from Sparresäter to the current location on the Remningstorp Country Estate, which has close connections with the Forestry Society.

Approximately 80 chainsaws from the 1940s onwards are on display. One of the heavier machines is a 12 kg American Homelite EZ from the 1950s.

Other tools on display include cone ladders, bark spuds, rip saws, various carriages and sleds for pulling timber by horse, and tools for planting forest.

The museum is open on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. during summer, except on the 24th of June (Midsummer), or by appointment (please telephone 0708 – 55 88 23).

Admission is SEK20. Guided tours and refreshments are available at additional cost.
