Alingsås

A toymuseum in the city centre of Alingsås

Located in the heart of Alingsås, the Alingsås Doll & Teddy Bear Museum invites visitors on a journey through toy history. Set in a charming 18th-century building with a cobbled courtyard, the museum is home to more than 2,500 vintage dolls and teddy bears from across Europe.

This centrally located toy museum in Alingsås houses a fascinating collection of approximately 2,500 items, including teddy bears, stuffed animals, and dolls. The museum is beautifully situated on Drottninggatan in a historic building dating back to the early 1700s, complete with a cobblestone courtyard.

Step inside and experience a nostalgic journey like no other. Once on the courtyard, enjoy the silence and serenity away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Close your eyes and imagine the sound of hammering from coppersmith Daniel Södergren, born in 1785, who had his workshop on the premises over 200 years ago. Perhaps you’ll even hear the distant clip-clop of horses' hooves across the stones.

A Rich Collection
The museum features over 2,500 toys, including more than 700 celluloid dolls made between 1900 and 1960 in Germany, England, Denmark, France, and Sweden. Sizes range from just a few centimeters to as large as 75 cm. There are also around 300 teddy bears, with most originating from Germany and England.
