Art Lap
Alingsås
A shorter tour to explore the city’s public art and surrounding environments.
This is the route for those who want to discover the city through its public art. You begin at Susanna Arwin’s much-debated sculpture The Woman with the Handbag and continue on to Eric Grate’s Spring and Mia Frankendal’s enamel piece where Mrs. Alströmer is placed on a pedestal. The bike ride then takes you to three large-scale mural artworks themed around fairy tales and outer space, before leading you toward the scenic Nolhaga area. Here, you’ll find both newer and older artworks, indoors and outdoors. At Nolhaga Parkbad you can see Sirous Namazi’s Reflections, and inside Nolhaga Castle you’ll find the wallpaper Greek Feasts. Be sure to end your tour with a coffee in the castle café.
The art tour mainly follows asphalted walking and cycling paths in the city center, with easy terrain, and is estimated to take one to two hours. The route is about 5.5 km long.
