Cosmic Love
Alingsås
On the façade of Alströmergymnasiet, visitors are met with a vibrant artwork evoking galaxies, dreams, and human wisdom. Cosmic Love, created by artist Dan Sapunar as part of Artscape Saga 2019, is a tribute to the power of knowledge and the infinite universe that surrounds us. Here, street art merges with science fiction influences in a grand expression that leaves no one untouched.
“Everyone carries the power to understand the infinite.”
Cosmic Love is a large-scale mural by artist Dan Sapunar (also known as Space), painted in the summer of 2019 on the wall of Alströmergymnasiet/Alströmerteatern as part of the Artscape Saga project.
Inspired by comic book artist Jack Kirby (creator of Marvel’s first superheroes), Sapunar has created a colorful cosmic goddess symbolizing wisdom and curiosity – with the message that every person holds the power to embrace knowledge and understand the world around them.
The work is a tribute to both the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and the 50-year anniversary of Alströmergymnasiet. Unlike the other murals in the Artscape Saga project, however, this one is not based on a specific folk tale, but rather on a universal dream of the unknown and the infinite.
Dan Sapunar grew up in Malmö and is now based in Barcelona. He combines the visual language of graffiti with psychedelic color schemes and works across several art forms – from mural painting to tattoo art, photography, and animation.
