Cultural Walk in Alingsås
Alingsås
Discover Alingsås’ rich history and charming architecture on a self-guided cultural walk through the town centre. Explore historic buildings, hidden courtyards and fascinating stories from the past at your own pace.
The Cultural Walk was created by Alingsås Local Heritage Association and was one of the many community projects that received financial support to contribute to the celebration of Alingsås’ 400th anniversary.
During this self-guided walk, you can discover 29 cultural highlights in the centre of Alingsås. Take a closer look at historic façades and buildings and learn more about their unique stories through the brochure you carry with you. The walk also takes you past historic courtyards that received a Europa Nostra award in 1984 for their exceptional preservation.
The brochure is available at several locations, including the InfoPoint at Nolhaga Castle, the Town Hall at Stora Torge and the popup Touristinformation during summer time.
If you prefer a digital experience, you can access a free mobile guide at guide.prismavg.se. Click on the pink markers to learn more about each building. If location services are enabled, your position will appear as a blue dot and update as you walk. Unfortunately the guide is available in Swedish only but you can translate the page in your webbrowser.
Over time, signs will also be added at each stop to make it easier to find your way and know where to pause along the route.
