Cyclist's Etiquette & Safety

Mountain biking at Billingen is both fun and a wonderful nature experience. But it should also be safe, which is why it’s important to know the rules, safety guidelines, and your personal responsibilities. Here’s what you need to keep in mind:

Ride Safely!

  • A helmet is mandatory! In addition to a helmet, protective gear such as a back protector, knee pads, and elbow pads are recommended.
  • Cycling is only permitted on approved bike trails. Follow signs and cycling guidelines.

Be Considerate!

  • Always move aside with your bike if you stop along a trail.
  • Help others who may have had an accident.
  • Some trails run alongside hiking and running paths. Extra care is required here, and we ask cyclists to yield to walkers and runners. When meeting or overtaking, slow down and pass with plenty of space.

Adjust Your Speed!

  • Make sure you can stop before unexpected obstacles. Avoid stopping where visibility is limited. It's especially unsuitable to stop behind crests, in curves, or on steeper sections.
  • Keep in mind that trail conditions can change with different weather.

Respect Nature!

  • Do not disturb wildlife or leave trash behind. Remember the principle of "leave no trace" from the Swedish Right of Public Access (Allemansrätt). If you bring trash, gather it up and dispose of it at the designated spots.
