Welcoming growing crops and happy customers provides a satisfaction that is deep in Källtorp’s roots. This is where Kristina Öh Jansson and Arne Jansson grow a variety of vegetables and flowers on the family’s farmland.
The charming old brewery. This was the first thing Kristina Öh Jansson saw the first time she visited Arne Jansson’s parental homestead in Källtorp outside Hova. Now the married couple have lived together in an adjacent villa for 45 years – and the brewery has recently become the farm shop.
The couple have always had an interest in cultivation on the side of their jobs as forest consultant and manager of a health centre. When their son Niklas began cultivating cabbage on the family farmland their interest increased, and in conjunction with the couple taking retirement they started Källtorp’s Vegetable Farm. Watching what grows, producing domestic provisions and meeting satisfied customers are the main incentives for the couple.
Long lines of cabbage
What mainly characterises Kristina and Arne’s business is the wide variety. They grow black radish and melons and almost everything in between. Carrots, corn, peas, celery, beans, tomatoes, pumpkin and artichoke are just a few examples.
They specialise in the diversity of cabbage. In the field outside the farm shop everything from cabbage to cauliflower to Brussel sprouts and Romanesco can be found. Moreover, the growing beds are filled with a variety of flowers during the summer, which Kristina binds into bouquets or dries. And sometimes they offer ‘pick-yourself’ in the flower section. In addition to all the fresh produce, they also sell some processed products, for example cordial made from garden berries and sauerkraut from their own farms
Farm shop with café
If you want to shop from Källtorp’s Vegetable Farm, you can do so in the farm shop, which has regular opening times from the end of August into November. Sometimes they also open a pop-up-café with home-made pastries in the newly built orangery. Occasionally Kristina and Arne turn up at the markets and Reko food groups in the local area.
