Klangahamns fiskrökeri
Granvik, Karlsborg
Home-caught fresh and smoked fish direct from the lake At Klangahamn’s fish smoke house there are just a few meters between the fishing boat and the shop counter. The family Grönlind have run the business in the same way for decades.
Char, perch, pike, pikeperch, trout, roach, crayfish… The list is long of the delicacies that Klangahamn’s fishermen Patrik Grönlind and Tomas Karlsson catch in Lake Vättern and other nearby lakes. Here in Granvik outside Karlsborg, the family business filets, smokes and sells their catch just a few meters from the quay where the fishing boat is moored.
Klangahamn’s fish smoke house is perfectly located between the glittering waters of Lake Vättern and the magical forests of Tiveden National Park. Customers come here from near and far to experience the surroundings and get some freshly caught fish to savour.
Carefully smoked
The way of fishing has its origins in the 1700s, but the family business started in the 1970s when Patrik’s father got together with some fishing friends. Today the company has four employees and two shops: in addition to the one in Granvik, there is also one in central Karlsborg.
Delivering nutritious and tasty food direct from nature is of course the driving force for the gang at Klangahamn’s Fish Smoke House. The smoke master Stefan Brandqvist wood-smokes in the old-fashioned way and handles the raw materials with the utmost sensitivity born of many years of experience.
As well as in Vättern, Klangahamn also fish in the smaller lakes Ymsen, Viken and Bottensjön, which all lie a few dozen kilometres away. They are also among a selection of people who have permission to fish for eels. That only happens in Lake Ymsen, and only at certain times of the year.
Open all year
As long as the lakes are free from ice, Patrik and Tomas fish daily, and Klangahamn’s shops are open all year. In addition to fresh, smoked and frozen fish from their own fishing, there are also homemade sandwiches, smoked fish-burgers and similar, plus salmon and other fish and shellfish which are bought in from elsewhere.
