Grazing land & meadow

On the eastern side of Kinnekulle, there is a smaller nature reserve where the 3-kilometer trail passes through pastures and hay meadows, creating beautiful lush surroundings.

The hiking trail takes you through leafy pastures with very old oaks and linden trees, and past a hay meadow. During the warm season, cowslips, orchids, and elder-flowered orchids bloom here. In several places, there are old scars in the ground where our ancestors once mined alum shale. These traces are now protected as ancient monuments. The nature reserve depends on grazing, meaning you might encounter cows and sheep in the area at certain times of the year.
