Stuveröd hiking trail
Stuveröd Skaftö

The lush and peaceful eastern side of Skaftö

Walk through lush forest areas and pastures with grazing cows

Quick facts

Length: 4.3 km

Timing: 1 hour

Difficulty: Moderate

Terrain: Gravel road and nature trail, which partly leads through pastures. Remember to close gates and keep dogs on a leash.

The hiking trail Stuverödsleden is marked with red and begins in the western part of the island and ends in the southern part. It follows a natural footpath and gravel road through lush sections and beautiful pastures, on the eastern side of Skaftö. On the way you pass the building in Berg where Skaftö Hembygdsförening and Gille have their base.

There are grazing animals on the land along the hiking trail. The animals help to preserve the natural values, keep the landscape open and promote the richness of species in the area. Remember to close gates and keep dogs on a leash. The best time to hike is in autumn, winter and spring, when there are no grazing animals around.

There is no need to be afraid of the cows approaching - they are curious and social. Ignore them or wave your arms and shout if they get too close. Also keep in mind the following:

· Be extra careful if you have a dog. Keep your dog on a leash and do not go too close to the herd, or make a detour.

· Do not go through a herd of animals but round it.

· Do not walk between a cow and her calf
