The fountain of chronicle
Skara

A travel in time at the city square

Standing at this fountain, at the main square, made by Nils Sjögren in 1939, you will be able to follow the local history through time, depicted around the fountain.

The Fountain of Chronicle is the focal point of the main square, depicting the history of Skara over a thousand years in relief, featuring Bishop Brynolf, Saint Bridget of Sweden, King Magnus IV Eriksson, and also statesman Gunnar Wennerberg.

The artist, Nils Sjögren, studied art history, classical prehistoric history, and French at the University of Upsala before taking up art studies full-time. He studied sculpture in Paris and lived there for many years. Back in Sweden, he became an apprentice of Christian Eriksson, learning the sculpting trade.
