Stenungsund has several lovely bike paths both by the sea and inland. Svartedalen's nature reserve offers slightly longer distances and more challenging terrain. Here, you will find Toröd Outdoor with kilometres of paths, an illuminated trail, a technical practice park and dirt track. Cycling across the bridges to Tjörn is an awesome experience; four bridges connect the island with the mainland and offer fantastic views over Hakefjorden, larger islands and small bridges.
Tjörn is an excellent cycling island for the whole family where the paths offer safe, eventful and varied cycling. Don't miss the ‘Worlds Sweatiest Art Trail’; the winding trail from the Watercolour Museum in Skärhamn through wind-swept pine forests to Skulptur i Pilane – one of Europe's most beautiful sculpture parks, set among rocks, stone-age graves and grazing sheep.
At Orust, you will find great on-road cycling through varied nature of islands and cliffs in the west and farmland and lakes in the east.
At the foot of Bredfjället, in the strait between Orust and the mainland lies Ljungskile – a small town by the bay that is great to cycle around. Make sure to visit the old spa town of Lyckorna, the town centre and its unique shops, or head up the mountain for a bit more of a challenge.
