Herring Day – June 6 at Klädesholmen
On June 6, it's time to celebrate one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions – Herring Day on Klädesholmen! This festive day is a tribute to both Sweden’s National Day and the country’s deep-rooted herring heritage. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Bohuslän archipelago, you’ll enjoy a celebration filled with flavors, traditions, and a strong sense of community – all in one of Sweden’s most picturesque seaside villages.
A Day for Food Lovers and Curious Visitors Alike
Herring Day is a festive experience for foodies and curious explorers alike! Savor a classic herring plate featuring both traditional pickled varieties and this year’s special edition. And every plate sold helps support the vital work of the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (Sjöräddningssällskapet) – so you’re doing good while enjoying great flavors.
Take a stroll across the charming island and soak in the unique atmosphere of Klädesholmen. Join a guided tour to discover the island’s fascinating history. Browse the market for local crafts and one-of-a-kind finds. Don’t miss the chance to step aboard the Sea Rescue Society’s boats or admire the elegant steamboat Bohuslän.
