At Österplana Agriturismo, ingredients and craftsmanship take centre stage. Meals and refreshments featuring flavours from the local area are served, with the selection guided by the seasons and availability. The no-menu concept allows the kitchen to make the most of each day’s finest ingredients. Book a table and experience local food culture, historic architecture and modern hospitality beneath the church’s lofty vaulted ceiling.

Culture in the church

The church has been given a new lease of life as a venue for concerts, performing arts and other cultural events. Improved acoustics, atmospheric lighting and carefully repurposed pews create a flexible setting where food, music and stories can come together.

Celebrations and meetings

Österplana Church can be booked for weddings, celebrations and anniversaries for up to approximately 120 guests. Tailored packages are available, with planning, food and arrangements adapted to each occasion.

The historic setting is also ideal for smaller conferences, workshops and meetings. Your day can be complemented by meals, refreshments, guided walks or yoga in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Garden and nature

Outside the church, a garden for visitors will take shape, inspired by Kinnekulle’s rich variety of plants. Cultivated and wild plants will grow alongside a kitchen garden that supplies ingredients for the food served here. Nature reserves, walking trails and sweeping views make this an ideal starting point for exploring Kinnekulle.

A historic church reborn

Österplana Church was built in 1875 in a cathedral-inspired style, replacing an older medieval church. Following its deconsecration in 2024, the building has been carefully transformed into a vibrant visitor destination where its cultural heritage can take on a new role.
