A mansion located on a meadow

Stola Manor is situated by lake Vänern in the municipality of Lidköping in a beutiful environment surronded by meadows and fields.

Stola is situated by lake Vänern in the municipality of Lidköping " in a pleasent place or slight elevation surronded by meadows and fields, where stood small hillocks and groves of aspen and oak, part wild, part planted." (from Västgötaresa, a description by Linnaeus of his travels in the area, 1746).

The Ekeblad family owned Stola from the 1530's untill 1879. Several members of the family was noted commanders, royal councillors and country govenors. The building was unoccupied for a greater part of ofthe nineteenht century, but it has been renovated since and returned to it's eghteenth century splendours. Since the end of 1980's Stola has been owned by a foundation, and part of the groundfloor is used as private accomendation, but the majority of the building is open for visitors.
