Fågelö kapell
Torsö

Chapel on the island Torsö

Fågelö chapel is a charming chapel from the early 1880´s, consisting of a nave with a tower to the west.

Between horse paddocks and the farm lands on the island of Torsö lie Fågelö chapel. The chapel was built in 1883 near the site of two older churches. The most recent repair was done in 1994.

From the Middle Ages there stood a chapel dedicated to Saint Peter and the Virgin Mary. In 1698-1703 it was replaced by a new chapel which was demolished in 1882. At this site (about 500 meters northwest from the current chapel) is now a memorial stone which, together with the old cemetery, is enclosed.

The chapel is mostly used as a "summer church" with music events open to the public.

The chapel can hold around 90 people and can be booked for baptisms and weddings between May 1 and September 30.

Opening hours
During the summer (1 May - 31 August) the church is open every day at 8.00-20.00.
