The guest harbour in Lyrestad is a popular meeting place for boaters, motorists and bicycle tourists. The area is extra lively when the passengerboats arrive.
A hidden gem by the Göta Canal
The old harbour warehouse, Hamnmagasinet, includes a museum of the local history association. Here you also can stop for a coffee and homebaked pastry.
The warehouse was built in 1823 as a storage facility for canal traffic and was sold in 1871 to a merchant from Mariestad. An apartment was created in the building, and the village’s first shop was located here until the end of the 19th century.
