One of Sweden's oldest theaters outside the big cities, inaugurated in 1843. Most of the old charm has been preserved and the theater is still a scene for concerts, lectures and theater perfomences.
In the middle of the city center is the old theater of Mariestad. Inaugurated on January 4 1846 and still standing and holding events all year around.
A living theater is important for cultural life in Mariestad. In this unique setting there is an atmosphere and an old-fashioned charm that takes you back to the mid 1800's. Every year several local performances are shown and concerts, lectures and other events are held here.
The theater seats 193 people.
