Right along the canal is Norrqvarn Hotel & Resort, offering a restaurant and café service. There are 19 motorhome pitches available here, all with electricity. Service facilities are located in the hotel building. Disposal of toilet waste and greywater, as well as rubbish disposal for motorhomes, is available at the motorhome sites in Lyrestad, Hajstorp, and the outer harbor in Mariestad.

Check-in and check-out are handled via a code that you receive at the time of booking, which means you can check in at any time of the day. Booking is made here.

Norrqvarn Hotel & Resort

The restaurant features a generous outdoor terrace, partly set on the jetty, where you can enjoy the sunset. During the day, breakfast, coffee, ice cream, and a daily lunch special are served. The area includes both a lock area and a cultural trail that tells you more about the Göta Canal. The Children’s Mini Canal, perfect for splashing and playing, is ideal if you are traveling with kids.

Cycle Along the Göta Canal

The Göta Canal Trail is a national cycle route that was named Europe’s Best Cycle Route at the prestigious Fiets en Wandelbeurs fair in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 2025.

Cycling along the Göta Canal is easy and peaceful. From Norrkvarn, the trail follows the historic towpath right beside the canal. In the past, horses and oxen pulled boats along here; today it is a gravel, car-free path. No matter which direction you cycle, you will pass several locks as well as small villages and towns.

If you don’t have your own bicycle with you, you can rent one at the reception. You can also rent a canoe or kayak there if you would like to experience the canal from the water.
