Nature reserve Ösan
Billingsfors

Easy walking area with nice natural bathing places.

The nature reserve is located east of Billingsfors on a peninsula in the lake Laxsjön. Varied nature with easy walks. There is also swimming possibility and a DANO camp site.

In the nature reserve there are a lot of big old trees, including oak, linden, maple, willow and aspen. The plant life is rich and you can find herb Christopher, true lover's knot, shining geranium, oregano and plenty of liverleaf.

Birdlife is also rich. Smaller woodpeckers, osprey, green-barker, cuckoo and red-tailed are some species that you have a good chance of seeing.

The area has long been used for outdoor activities. There are trails and it is easy to get around by canoe. Several of the beaches are suitable for bathing and there is a DANO camp site in the nature reserve.

Directions

Turn off just north of the lock and road 172 in Billingsfors towards Munksjö Paper's signposted "huvudkontor" and "Strandvägen". Then follow Strandvägen all the way to the end.
