Kinnekulle Trail in Two Days in Shelters

Tour suggestions for those who want to hike the Kinnekulle Trail in two days with accommodation in shelters.

Below you can find two tour suggestions with different starting points:

Suggestion 1: Hällekis–Lasses Grotta–Hällekis

Suggestion 2: Blomberg–Högkullen–Blomberg

 

Suggestion 1: Hällekis– Lasses Cave –Hällekis


Hike Day 1 – Hällekis–Lasses Cave, Husaby

The first part of the hike follows the Biosphere Trail south. From Hällekis, the trail now climbs towards Kinnekulle’s highest peak and the beautiful observation tower. This day’s hike then passes Österplana with its beautiful alvar landscape as well as the Martorps waterfall. Towards the end, you pass forests and fields before reaching Lasses Cave, where the night’s accommodation is located just below it.

Hike Day 2 – Lasses Cave–Hällekis

Today’s hike goes along the west side of Kinnekulle, and you soon reach cozy Blomberg, where there is both a café, rock carvings, and a bathing spot. Your tour then continues to sights such as Råbäcks harbor, Gröne Skog with its beautiful old limestone quarry, The Munch Meadows, and Hellekis Manor. Finally, you walk along the cliffs in Söckeviken before returning to Hällekis, having completed the Kinnekulle Trail.

Suggestion 2: Blomberg–Högkullen–Blomberg


Hike Day 1 – Blomberg–Högkullen

This hike starts in the cozy village of Blomberg and takes you through meadows, pastures, limestone quarries, and a string of manors, with views at the magnificent Great Quarry and Söckeviken. Then the climb begins towards Kinnekulle’s summit Högkullen and the shelter with a lovely view, which is the night’s accommodation.

Accommodation: Shelter or tent just west of Kinnekulle Observation Tower, towards Stora Salen

Hike Day 2 – Högkullen–Blomberg

This day starts downhill and passes Österplanas alvar landscape and Martorps waterfall, as well as Lasses Cave, before the beautiful Halla Nature Reserve leads you towards the destination in Blomberg. If you have energy, Husaby is just over a kilometer detour from the trail, with impressive attractions such as the church with its double towers and the spring where Olof Skötkonung is said to have been baptized.
