With Dutch drive and Swedish cultured crops, the Van Unens created what they themselves were missing in their locality: a farm shop with vegetables and flowers grown where they are sold. The result is Färed’s Farm Shop.
Open fields, beautiful surroundings and good potential to farm. That is what economists Andries Van Unen and Laura Berns-Van Unen longed for when they moved from Holland to Sweden in 2021. In the village of Färed, between Mariestad and Töreboda they found just that.
Since then, they have gradually developed their cultivation, and in 2026 they opened Färed’s Farm Shop for the first time. They offer fresh vegetables and flowers that they have grown themselves, either in the farm shop garden and greenhouse, or in a leased field nearby.
Seasonal selection
Root vegetables, cabbage, lettuce and fresh herbs. Dahlias, hydrangeas, mallows and sunflowers. These are some examples of what the farms in Färed is producing. What is available to buy in the farm shop depends entirely on the season and the vagaries of nature. The Van Unens have many ideas and are developing their business steadily.
The main incentive behind the farm shop is to live in harmony with nature, work together, offer healthy food and at the same time share the naturally beautiful place that is their home. Small-scale, sustainability and organic diversity are important factors while the majority of their vegetables and flowers are heritage varieties from Swedish seeds.

In addition to the homegrown assortment, there are also local products from other food artisans in the area, such as pastries from a local bakery in a coffee-corner. There is also a group of charming Göinge Swedish goats at the farm.
Färed’s Farm Shop is open in season, basically from the end of May to the end of October. During the same period, they can also sometimes be found at Reko food groups and markets in the local area. Follow the farm shop on Instagram for vital updates!
