Stenehed

Hällevadsholm

Stenehed in Hällevadsholm is one of the rarest burial grounds in Bohuslän,
with several Iron Age tombs. The most famous monument is a line of
nine menhirs. Originally, the row may have included eleven or twelve
menhirs and has probably been used as a solar calendar.
The site is associated with the legend of King Rane and the Queen Hud.
After a sequence of events, the King killed the Queen and her escort,
and they are said to be buried at Stenehed.
