Ranebo Outdoor Recreation Facility

On the upper floor of the main lodge, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, and the dining hall seats up to 60 people. An open fireplace makes winter days extra cozy. Firewood is available outside. In the surrounding area, you’ll find hiking trails, opportunities to rent canoes, and a team‑building course.

Swimming, Canoeing & Fishing

Bolsjön is a wonderful swimming lake with fresh, clear water. At the facility, there are smooth rock slabs, a jetty, and a sandy beach—so everyone, young and old, can take a dip. The lake is part of a larger lake system. You can rent a canoe and, with short portages between lakes, paddle across a fairly large area. Bolsjön is a great spot for beginners who have never tried canoeing before. You can rent canoes whether you are staying overnight or just want to take a day trip. Those interested in fishing can buy a fishing permit and try their luck in Bolsjön.

Disc Golf & Team-Building Course

Disc golf is a sport and recreational activity with a lot to offer, attracting more and more participants. The team-building course consists of several stations designed to strengthen groups and encourage cooperation. At the stations, you face challenges that must be solved together. It can be anything from solving a math problem to stacking blocks.

Forest & Nature

The most fantastic thing about Ranebo is the forest and everything it has to offer—both relaxation and activities! Around the outdoor center, there is a 2.4 km exercise loop and a 4 km hiking trail. The forest is well‑suited for orienteering, and there is a specially drawn orienteering map of the area. For those who love wandering through the woods with a mushroom basket, the late summer season often yields great rewards!
If you follow the gravel road along the lake’s western shore, you’ll reach a lit HK parking area. From here, there is a boardwalk that follows the shoreline for about 100 meters. It is adapted for people with reduced mobility. Here you’ll find several benches with room for wheelchairs, a shelter, and a barbecue area. There is also a 14‑meter floating jetty with a large platform at the end for those who want to fish or simply sit on the bench and enjoy nature.

Excursion Destinations Nearby

Another destination in the area is the Munkseröd Cave (“Rövargrottan”), or as it’s known in Tanum: Munkserödshillern. It is a wilderness gem, well hidden in a niche in the rock and very well protected from the elements. According to legend, the cave was long ago the hideout and home of a group of robbers… Why not spend the night and let your imagination add a little excitement?

Winter at Ranebo

Not every winter brings enough natural snow to prepare ski trails at Ranebo. That’s why Tanums IF, together with the municipality, has invested in a snowmaking system.
When the cold arrives, we maintain an artificial‑snow ski loop and a sledding hill for children of all ages. Come and discover Ranebo’s opportunities for skiing, sledding, skating, and its wonderful surroundings.
Ranebo’s warming hut is open around the clock during the winter season.
