This is Solhem Krukmakeri

Late at night, the day before Christmas Eve in 1989, Jenny and Joakim drove into their new home on the ranch in Solhemsdalen, just north of Rabbalshede. The ranch, which has been owned by their family since 1888, was transformed into a pottery where they both live and work.

The barn is large with a lot of space and in peak season it is used to showcase the potteries products and also work as an art gallery, displaying the work of many artists, mostly from Bohuslän.

Solhem Konsthall (Art gallery) opened in Easter 2014 as a complement to the pottery and gallery. The art gallery is used to showcase art and culture in Bohuslän. Jenny and Joakim was awarded Tanums culture prize in 2016 for their work with the art gallery.

The Pottery

In the open workshop the potter’s wheel is being used all year round. They glaze and decorate their work by hand with their own glazes before heating their products to up to 1280 degrees. You can then use your pottery from Solhem in both your oven and dishwasher.  

Gallery

Solhem gallery have two yearly exhibition concepts. During Easter they showcase art from Gerleborgskolans students, who display their work from the classes they have taken. During summer they display the work from one or more established artists, from beginning of June until end of August. The work that they display can vary from paintings, sculptures, textiles, photography etc.

Art Gallery

Solhem Konsthall is open during Easter and during summer. During Easter there is a so-called “art walk” where KVIRR (Konstvandring i ranrike) have their exhibition at Solhem.

In the summer, there is a change in the exhibition and you will then find six to ten artists and craftsmen from Bohuslän who display their art and craft in different constellations.
