Gustavsfors

A little community evidently characterized by its ancient factory

Gustavsfors is the northernmost village in Bengtsfors community, on the border to Värmland county. 300 persons live here permanantly. It is beautifully situated between the lakes Lelången and Västra Silen.

In Gustavsfors you can find some cafés and restaurants/pubs. There is the possibility to hire canoes in several places and the local ICA-shop provides you with food and information.

Through the village of Gustavsfors leads the shut down rail traffic "Dal Västra Värmlands järnväg" (DVVJ), now used by tourists to take a tour on a former inspection trolley.

In summer this village is visited by thousands of tourists by canoe, bike, car, boat or trolley. Boat tourists can stop at the bridge and have a closer look on the ancient works from 1740.

You can even stay over the night in Gustavsfors! There are hostel places and camping possibilities. About 5 km north of the community, a quiet camping site is situated. From here a hiking path leads first to Gustavsfors, but you could walk the whole path down to Bengtsfors tourist office! The new hiking path "Norrleden" is a continuation from Vammerviksleden, leading from Gustavsfors via Kråkviken to the central society Bengtsfors, about 28 km.
