18th lock, Dalsland Canal

The 18th lock of the Dalsland canal is just north of Billingsfors. The place is probably best known as the most photographed along the canal due to a wonderful little red cottage with very picturesque garden located next to the lock!

After passing a small dam, Kvarnhöljen, steer towards the single lock on the east side of the stream; height difference 2,4 m.
The lock is best known as the most photographed along the canal due to a wonderful little red cottage with very picturesque garden located next to the lock. If you are lucky, you can see beavers in Dammhöljen, as the small lake between the 18th and 19th lock is called.
