Bathing place Bönkasen
Bengtsfors
A very nice little beach in a beautiful setting at the lake Ärtingen. Lake Ärtingen is one of those lakes in the province that warms up quickly in the spring due to being shallower than the average depth.
Bönkasen is located west of Bengtsfors. The lake Ärtingen is indirect linked to Dalslands Canal’s lake system via a shorter canal named Greaströmmen from Lake Lelång. Most of the water for the lake comes in the north-western part of the lake from such sources as Lake Fillingsjön. Lake Ärtingen has only one place it empties, namely via Greaströmmen Canal to Lake Lelång. The deepest part of the lake is in the south and measures 27 metres.
The water is somewhat coloured, but must be considered rather clear for this area. The shoreline is mostly mountains, cliffs and rocky beaches. There are shallower reed coves in both the north and the south ends. On the east side there are summer cabins and villas. Lake Ärtingen is one of those lakes in the province that warms up quickly in the spring due to being shallower than the average depth. While there is some farming to the northwest, the surrounding area is dominated by forest and mountains.
NOTE! It is not allowed to camp at the beach.
At the bathing place there are:
- Jetty
- Waste bin
- changing room
