Public transportation in Sweden

To take the public transport through Sweden can be a bit tricky. Different citys and Regions in Sweden has differens operators. There are also various types of coupons according to each city or Region bus, train or metro/tram system. These are usually bought in kiosks or information centers. Trains usually need to be prepayed - you can not pay onboard. Buses usually take payment - but not cash, only card payment. If you have a Visa or Mastercard debit/credit-card you're safe.

Hjo belongs to Västtrafik's area - which you find throughout the Region of Västra Götaland. You can easily catch the train from Gothenburg, change to bus in the train- and busstation in Skövde to take the 40 minutes ride to our beloved town Hjo.

Skövde is one of many hubs for trains in Sweden. You can travel from Jönköping in the south, from Gothenburg in the west and also trains from Stockholm stops here. If you travel from Copenhagen - you take the train to Gothenburg, to change to the Stockholm train and get off in Skövde, about half way. From Skövde to Hjo it is about a 40 minutes busride, and last stop is Hjo Busstation - located just next to Hotel Bellevue and next to Hjo town.
