Protected vessel for pleasure

The steamship Ångaren S/S Trafik was built in 1892 to ply the route between Hjo and Hästholmen. Today she is fully refurbished, listed as a protected vessel and classified as a Traditional Ship. In 2013 she won an award as the “Museum of Working Life of the Year”.
During the summer you can now board this piece of maritime history to enjoy Lake Vättern’s varied sights, destinations and beaches.

Day trips to beaches, castles and medieval history

Take one of the many day trips around Vättern’s big blue. Spend a whole day on Hästholmen, or choose a shorter family trip. Enjoy summery musical cruises with live music on board, or a visit to Hjo during the annual Woodworking Fair. Visingsö, the “pearl of Lake Vättern”, offers visits to Visingsborg Castle, bike rentals or rides on horse-drawn “remmalag” carriages, cooling dips in the lake, and excellent food. The medieval town of Vadstena is home to Vadstena Abbey, the Abbey church, and Vadstena Castle. The town centre has great shopping, too, and good food in restaurants and cafés.
