The Biosphere Trail
The 140 km long Biosphere Trail runs from Läckö Castle to Mariestad and allows you to explore the entire Biosphere Reserve Lake Vänern Archipelago with Kinnekulle. A couple of segments go through Kinnekulle, and it’s ideal to take the train one way and hike the other.
Pilgrim Trails Läckö Castle–Forshem and Husaby–Skara
Kinnekulle is crossed by two different pilgrimage trails. One is Läckö Castle–Forshem, which goes through eastern Kinnekulle and continues toward Mariestad after Forshem. Another route begins in Husaby and takes you to Skara. These trails are best suited for multi-day hikes.
Nature Reserve Trails
Kinnekulle has a total of 18 nature reserves, many of which have their own shorter hiking trails marked in blue. These reserve trails are sometimes loop trails but can also be combined with the orange Kinnekulle Trail to create additional loops that are often perfect for day trips. Below are a couple of examples:
Hallaleden
Start at Lasse's Cave and walk past it. Turn left and follow the blue trail until it intersects with the orange trail, then turn around and take the orange trail back. Approximately 3 kilometers. Wonderful nature both above and below the cliff edge.
Martorp Waterfall
Park at the main parking lot at Martorpsfallet and follow the blue trail toward the waterfall. Once there, the orange Kinnekulle Trail continues westward and takes you back to the parking lot. The trail is approximately 7 kilometers.
