Rydenska huset
Lundsbrunn
The Rydén sisters opened the doors to their general store in the historic spa town of Lundsbrunn as early as 1920. Since then, the house has taken different paths on its journey, but time has treated it gently. Most things remain just as they were. You are warmly welcome to experience the house’s unique atmosphere, art, and café.
The first thing that greets you as you step through the beautiful double doors is the vintage shop interior in pink and grey. The shop counter with its glass top is a reminder of times when purchases were carefully chosen. Today, the shop and gallery feature ceramics from local ceramic artists, and various art exhibitions take place in the gallery throughout the summer. On the second floor is the studio of artist Caroline Walker, where painting courses are also held.
Sigrid & Folkes Café
Our café is named after Sigrid and Folke, who lived and worked in the apartment above the shop. Sigrid cared deeply about the future of the house, and even today, her roses bloom in the garden, while their names adorn the brass plaque on the upper floor, a timeless reminder of their story.
The café does not keep specific opening hours but is open on selected evenings and during events, focusing on music, pub nights, as well as private and corporate bookings.
Historic Train Journey to Lundsbrunn
Skara Lundsbrunn Railways offers a pleasant and exciting train ride at a leisurely pace through varied scenery between Skara and Lundsbrunn during the summer. On Sundays, the Rydénska House is open during the train’s departures.
Here, you can enjoy the rhythmic clatter of the rails and the scent of coal smoke from the steam locomotive. The locomotives and carriages date back to the railway’s heyday during the first half of the 20th century. On Sundays, you can take the opportunity to enjoy waffles and ice cream at the Rydénska House, visit the art and ceramics exhibition, and experience a historical part of Lundsbrunn.
The trains depart from Skara Station, and tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth on the platform. Read more about the train schedules at www.sklj.se.
