Delightful natural experiences, fun play areas and fascinating history – having fun needn’t be expensive!

There are plenty of activities in and around Skövde that don’t cost much. Here are some fantastic destinations that won’t blow the budget, come rain or shine!

The Skogsmulle Kingdom | Visit Skogsmulle and his friends at the Skogsmulle Kingdom around Lake Åsbotorpsjön on Billingen Mountain. Peek into the houses and explore the surroundings. Billingen | It’s easy to fall in love with Billingen, and once you’ve visited this mountain you’ll see why the people of Skövde are so proud of it. Billingen has high quality jogging, skiing and mountain biking tracks. There are all manner of natural experiences to enjoy, and the recreation area has several lakes with barbecue spots and wind breaks that are ideal if you want to enjoy a meal with a difference. There’s also a children’s activity playground built entirely from wood.

Skövde Cultural Centre | You’ll find Skövde Cultural Centre in the centre of Skövde. When it was built in 1964 this was the first centre of its kind in Sweden, housing a theatre, cinema, library and art gallery – all under one roof. You can see performances at Skövde City Theatre, temporary and permanent exhibitions at the art gallery, and films at the cinema. The art gallery has an area for children, where they can discover works of art, create their own art on the pixel wall, or make a stop motion film. All for free!

You can visit the permanent exhibition, try out the interactive room and look at the fantastic artifacts in the open warehouse. And don’t miss the temporary exhibits! Skövde City Museum is free to visit. Many of the exhibits are interactive, making them ideal for children and adults who enjoy learning through play!

Aspö Farm | In the summer, visitors to Aspö Farm can meet the pigs, cows and goats. You can also pet cute little rabbits or chat with the ducks and chickens. Nearby, there is an obstacle course for children and a small bathing lake. Individuals and families can visit the farm for free during regular opening hours.

Swim and play in Boulogner Forest | The whole family will enjoy the small bathing lake in Boulogner Forest. Next to the lake are barbecue spots and a fun play area. The park is just a stone’s throw from Skövde’s train and bus station.
