Åmåls local heritage museum
Åmål

A glimpse of Åmål 100 years ago

In an old port warehouse from the late 1700's you will find Åmåls local heritage/folk museum. Go back in time and get a glimpse of how they lived in Åmål 100 years ago. There are three floors with different environments from a time when everything was different.

There are several different environments to experience at the museum.

At the ground floor, you may find an exhibition that shows a contemporary toy room, a pastry shop, and an office. A full apartment with kitchen, bed- and living room can be experienced on second floor. Tailors, shoemakers, doctors, and dentists gears are represented, as well as the lighthouses and lighthouse equipment. You will also find equipment from a pharmacy, marine engines and bicycles. On the third floor you visit a village shop with hundreds of items, a walk-in closet and an exhibit of old fishing gear and old country objects.
