Gamla Kyrkan is Åmål's oldest and newest scene. In the Old Church from 1669 we have created a vibrant cultural arena where there will be plenty of room for cultural expression in all its kinds. The vision is a constantly vibrant place full of diverse culture.
History
The church was built between 1666-1669 and replaced the previous medieval church on the same site. The church was in use until the late 1700s. It was so dilapidated that it was sold and used as a warehouse for many years. The church conducted a comprehensive restoration in 1968. Today it´s a place of music, art and culture.
