Welcome to Känsla, a restaurant in the heart of Hjo where German, Swedish and international cuisine come together. Seasonal ingredients from local producers are at the heart of every menu, and all dishes are prepared from scratch. The menu changes every four to six weeks, making each visit a new culinary experience.

Restaurant and Bistro
Känsla spans two floors, offering an elegant à la carte restaurant and wine bar on the ground floor, with a relaxed bistro downstairs. Guests can choose from both an à la carte menu and a bistro menu, alongside a dedicated children's menu. The menus are updated regularly to reflect the changing seasons and the best locally available ingredients.
The à la carte restaurant
The bright and stylish dining room combines soft fabrics, natural textures and contemporary Scandinavian design to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The walls are adorned with artwork by Hjo-born artist Anette Landin. With seating for around 50 guests, the restaurant is ideal for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings.
The Bistro
Downstairs you'll find Känsla's cosy bistro, seating around 40 guests. Rich blue tones, carefully chosen details and more of Anette Landin's artwork create an inviting setting for everything from a relaxed weekday lunch to a three-course evening meal.
The bistro is also home to Känsla's cocktail bar, where you can unwind with expertly crafted cocktails in comfortable lounge seating.
The wine bar
Also located on the ground floor, the wine bar offers an extensive selection of European wines and champagnes. Enjoy a glass before dinner, pair your meal with a carefully chosen wine, or simply relax at the bar.
Outdoor seating
During the summer months, the spacious outdoor terrace stretches along Hamnbacken. Whether you choose a sunny or shaded table, you'll enjoy views towards the harbour and the lively atmosphere of central Hjo.
Blue Room – private dining and special occasions
Adjacent to the bistro is the Blue Room, a private dining room accommodating up to 25 guests.
Perfect for birthdays, intimate weddings, business dinners or other special occasions, the Blue Room offers a stylish and welcoming setting for memorable events.

Sustainability and locally sourced ingredients
Sustainability is a natural part of everything Känsla does. The restaurant works closely with local producers, using ingredients such as Vättern asparagus and the award-winning Almnäs cheese whenever they are in season.
