Pilgrim - what does it mean?

The word ‘pilgrim’ comes from the Latin word peregrinus, which means stranger. A pilgrim should have both an inner and an outer goal with their walk. Going on a pilgrimage is a global phenomenon. In medieval times, many pilgrims walked through the region of Västergötland, along the Pilgrim Trail in Dalsland, then north towards their final destination in Nidaros (Trondheim), in Norway. Between Falköping and Varnhem, the trail is marked with the cross of St Olof.
