Cycle tour of highlights on southwest Tjörn

See Tjörn from the saddle. This easy and beautiful route will take you to some of Tjörn’s fantastic destinations. Head out on MTB, gravel bike, or leisure bike; the trail is suitable for all.

Tour of swimming spots on Tjörn

This route offers easy cycling on a mix of gravel or asphalt roads through magical countryside with the sea and the forest always to hand.

You can join the trail wherever it suits you, but one suggestion is to start at The Nordic Watercolor Museum in Skärhamn. From here you pedal past the bathing area next to the Museum and up over the heights before turning off towards the little pearl of Gunnersviken.

Head on along the cycle path in the direction of Rönnäng, past the charming campsite, Hav & Logi, until you reach Stockevik where you can take a dip in the clear waters at this delightful swimming spot, or simply enjoy the beautiful views.

Stop for a fika break

Continuing towards Rönnäng make time for a break and enjoy some refreshments in the garden at the lovely little farm shop Moriks Fårgård. The journey will also take you through the hamlet of Bleket and on to Klädesholmen. On the shore, just before the bridge over to Klädesholmen lies the sourdough bakery Lottas Bak & form, another good place to take a break for fika or a hearty lunch.

The island of Klädesholmen is famous for its herring fishing and is crisscrossed by small roads that wind between picturesque white houses. As you reach the island you will cycle past the floating hotel and restaurant Salt & Sill and further on you will find the restaurant Kylen.

Ice cream and bridges

After exploring Klädesholmen pick up the trail for Rönnäng again, turn off towards Ishallen and follow the road over the bridges. On these bridges it is important that you dismount and walk with your bike. At last you have reached Rönnäng and if you head to the jetty it is a perfect stop for an ice cream. Enjoy the view back towards Klädesholmen and out to Tjörnekalv. Watch the ferries as they ply their way out to the car free islands of Åstol and Dyrön.

From here it’s a steep climp up to Tjörns Havspensionat and then on to the fantastic beach at Kårevik. Another great place to stop.

From Rönnäng you can head towards Fagerfjäll on smaller roads along the coast. You will pass Mölnebo market garden who offer pick your own vegetables, it doesn’t get fresher than that! From Fagerfjäll the roads wind on to Sibräcka where, among other things, there is a farmshop and strawberry farm at Sibräcka Prästgård.
The trail then heads back to Skärhamn.

Replenish your energy by finishing with something good to eat at Södra Hamnen 12 or Restaurang Vatten.
