1. Billingen – A mountain of experiences

Billingen in Skövde is truly a mountain full of fun experiences for anyone wanting an active holiday or training weekend. Its closeness to the centre of Skövde makes it easy to switch up your training session with good food, a trip to the cinema or a visit to the waterpark at Arena Skövde.

Billingecenter

The Billingecenter is at the heart of the recreation area and is a hub for all visitors. You’ll find maps and information here, a shop and equipment hire, as well as Restaurant Toppen which serves great food. Billingen is also a Vasaloppet centre.

 

Different priced accommodation 

At Billingen there are two main types of accommodation to choose from. Hotell Billingehus has the best view in Skövde, a luxurious breakfast buffet, a fantastic spa area and package offers. At Billingens Stugby & Camping the whole family can stay in comfy cabins, at the hostel, or in your own campervan. 

 

A magical winter paradise

Billingen is renowned for its snowy winters. In Billingebacken there are several lifts and a fun park with different grades of jumps. The well-lit artificial snow ski trail is 10 km and there are lots of lovely real snow trails for anyone who likes cross country skiing. You can also go ice skating at Arena Billingen.

2. Lassalyckan – One of Sweden’s most modern sports centres

Lassalyckan is a popular sport and outdoor activity centre in Ulricehamn, between Jönköping and Borås. There are opportunities for training here whatever time of year you’re there. Ulricehamn’s selection of restaurant and shops are within easy distance as is Lake Åsunden with its spectacular cold bath house.

  • MTB trails and pump tracks
  • Walking trails and trail running 
  • Gym, obstacle course, wake boarding
  • Accessible multisport arena
  • Golf, disc golf and padel
  • Football fields and indoor pitches with artificial turf 
  • Cross country skiing and ice rink

 

Family friendly world cup arena

On several occasions Lassalyckan has had the honour of hosting the Cross-Country World Cup, so the ski tracks are without question of the highest quality, suitable for the elite athletes who come here to train. At the same time there are also easier family-friendly tracks with lots of nice barbecue areas. 
Hotell Lassalyckan

If you’re planning an overnight stay then Hotell Lassalyckan is the obvious choice. The hotel is like a large and cosy ski chalet, with an open fire, restaurant and charming rooms with nature right outside the window. 

 

Something for anyyone keen to go training

It’s no exaggeration to say that the training facilities at Lassalyckan are generous, not least for cyclists, with really fabulous MTB trails and technical tracks. Or how about trying wakeboarding in Poppy Park, roller skiing on the multi sport track or play a round on the golf course? You’ll also find the UIF club house in the centre, with changing rooms, a warm room and a workshop for waxing skis.

Kroppefjäll B&B

3. Kroppefjäll wilderness area – Southern Sweden’s largest nature area

Kroppefjäll’s wildreness area, despite its size, is something of a hidden gem that many people haven’t heard of. It’s located in Dalsland and is a dream for all nature lovers, especially if you like hiking away from the crowds.

  • Dog park

 

Unique walking area 

You can definitely tell you’re in a wilderness area on Kroppefjäll but it’s a very safe area to walk in, with well marked trails. The Kroppefjällsleden trail is a real winner for anyone who loves deep green forests, mysterious tarns and many historical landmarks along the way.

There are two main entrances to Kroppefjäll. One is on the western flank of the area by Ragnerud Vandringsdestination, a beautifully situated family campsite with a swimming lake and cosy cabins. It’s there you’ll find the "gateway to Kroppefjäll". The campsite offers, as well as hiking trails, hire of canoes, kayaks and SUP boards, fishing, adventure trails for kids and a sauna right on the shore of the lake.  

 

Dog park and outdoor cookery

The other entrance to the area is located near to Kroppefjäll Bed & Breakfast, on the outskirts of the town of Dals Rostock. You can choose to go hiking in Kroppefjäll or walk the shorter Doktor Saedén’s circular around Lake Mörtletjärn. You’ll also find Kroppefjäll Dog Park here with a gym and enrichment area – and dogs can of course stay overnight in the B&B. And how about trying some outdoor cookery at Kroppefjäll B&B?

4. Tjörnbro Arena – The joy of training for all

Tjörnbro Arena is a training centre where the focus is on enjoying getting moving, whether you come with your children, partner, friends or colleagues. There’s a huge selection of activities and opportunities to train, stay over and eat well.

Popular training centre

Some of the most exciting experiences are in the trampoline park where you can work on your back flips, and the Via Ferrata climbing trail, which you move along securely fastened to a steel cable. During the summer the 25 metre pool gets a lot of visitors, if you prefer that to a dip in the sea. Tjörnbro Arena can also be seen as a gateway to the island of Tjörn with its many lovely cycle trails  and walking routes.

 

Restaurant and accommodation  

You can stay at Tjörnbro Arena in stylish and comfortable serviced apartments, some with sea views and others nestled among trees and rocks. Next to the pool area there’s a restaurant serving everything from breakfast to dinner. 

 

Discover Lilla Brattön

A short boat ride from Tjörnbro Arena gets you out to the island of Lilla Brattön where the adventure continues. You can stay the night here in charming cottages, have a sauna, eat great food at Elviras Skärgårdskrog and play adventure golf. This idyllic island also has many lovely walking trails.
