Eira Pavilion – Hjo Town Park
Nestled between the Old Bathhouse (Varmbadhuset) and Villa Eira, the small Eira Pavilion was the last building constructed in the park specifically for spa guests.
A Place for Rest, Reflection and Recreation
The Eira Pavilion was designed for social interaction, quiet contemplation, and relaxation. It included a reading salon reserved for second-class guests of the spa (Vattenkuranstalt).
For many years now, the pavilion has housed a restaurant. The building was designed by Lars Kellman, the same architect who created the nine iconic bathing huts down by Guldkroksbadet.
Facts about Eira Pavilion
The Eira Pavilion is a wooden structure built on a stone plinth foundation (torpargrund). Its facades are characterised by light, elegant detailing in Art Nouveau (Jugend) style, including period-typical windows with small-pane upper sections.
One especially striking feature is the sunray-style glazing bars in the upper glass panels of the veranda – a beautiful decorative element from the time.
Today, the veranda has been glazed in, and the former cloakroom has been converted into a restaurant kitchen.
