Forsbo Nature Reserve
Mellerud

Nature with a large diversity of species and hiking trail.

The reserve, which is just over 250 hectares, is located by the locks of Upperud and includes both a part of Dalsland's canal and valuable forests.

The nature reserve Forsbo is located northeast of Upperud by the Dalsland canal. From a geological perspective, a walk through Forsbo leads through hundreds of millions of years of history. Biologically, it goes from Dalsland's richest natural environments to the most barren. The area is also the largest diversity of species in Dalsland

Hiking trail

Length: 3 km
Type of trail: Loop
Forsboleden, marked with yellow markings, is a bit of a challenging trail through beautiful nature with several rest areas. A part of the trail also coincides with the Pilgrim trail via which you can make a detour to Skalåsknatten. Then the hike will be twice as long - but with a breathtaking view as a reward! You can also go seedless towards Mjölkudden. It takes  just over an hour to walk from the tip of Mjölkudden to the top of Skalåsknatten.
