Ryr Nature Reserve
Mellerud

Hike on the blooming Peninsula of Ryr

Mowing land and rich vegetation best describe the area. The old and very beautiful cultural landscape is framed by Östebosjön and Svansfjorden.

Ryr's nature reserve is 102 ha in size and consists of several separate areas on a peninsula near Köpmannebro. Hiking trails connect the areas.

From the parking lot at Kaserna there is a potpourri of sub-areas to discover. The grounds are extremely rich in flowers and mainly consist of meadows. The combination of the calcareous clay shale rocks and the continuous management, with grazing and mowing, has led to this richness in floral with many rare species.

Hiking trail

The trail takes you out towards the lakes with nice views. You walk both on forest trails and across meadows and pastures. The forest trails are partly quite steep with stairs in some places. There are several picnic tables set up along the trails for those who want to take a break.
