Bike the bridge
Stenungsund

Discover Tjörn Bridge from your bike seat, 3.5 km

In fact, when you choose to cycle the safe Tjörn Bridge route between Stenungsund and Tjörn, you'll be crossing three bridges. The views from these bridges are breathtaking, and if you want to savor them a little extra, we recommend a stop at the viewpoint when you have reached Tjörn.

This approximately 3.5 km one-way bike ride is perfect for the whole family, as it follows separated bike lanes from central Stenungsund to the viewpoint on Tjörn Bridge. A stop at the viewpoint is a must. Grab an ice cream from the kiosk and relax on the park benches with a view of Stenungsund, Stenungsön, and Lilla Brattön. Or purhaps enjoy a meal at Restaurang Tjörnbron. If you continue cycling towards  Almö Centrum, you'll find both Almö Kvarterskrog and Almö Livs if you'd like to grab something for the rest of your bike journey.

If you're looking to go for a swim, we recommend Almöns badplats on Tjörn or Hawaii badplats on Stenungsön. These beaches have sandy shores, diving towers, and piers and are great for families, but they also offer more secluded rocky swimming areas for those who prefer that.

Tjörn Bridge

Tjörn Bridge over Askeröfjorden connects the islands of Källön and Almön and is the largest of the three bridges linking Stenungsund on the mainland to the island of Tjörn. The bridge was inaugurated in 1981, replacing the previous bridge, Almöbron, which collapsed in 1980 after being struck by the ship Star Clipper.

Rent a bike

Don't have your own bike? No worries, you can rent a bike at Stenungsbaden, and Almö Centrum. If you're interested in renting a mountain bike (MTB), check out Surfviken.

For those who want to continue cycling on Tjörn or Orust, there are excellent bike paths available there as well. Cycling on Tjörn is particularly suitable for families, given the extensive network of separated bike lanes.
