The Jälmå Trail
Dalstorp/Nittorp, Tranemo

A 35-km trail along the river with 13 bridges

The Jälmå River Trail is a 35 km long hiking trail through beautiful countryside. With 13 bridges over the river, it’s easy to shorten the distance and create your own round trip. There are several interesting sights along the trail such as a Viking grave field, and industrial ruins from the 19th century. The trail passes some lovely bathing areas, and meadows filled with grazing animals. You can also combine your walk with a paddling expedition on the Jälm river.

Start and end points

A hike along the Jälmån takes you past Dalstorpssjön and Nittorpssjön, with trails that loop around both lakes. The best place to park is by one of the bridges that crosses the stream or in the villages of Nittorp or Dalstorp. Jälmåleden is located in Tranemo Municipality.

What to see

A hike along paths through beautiful countryside on both sides of Jälmån between Dalstorp and Nittorp. The 13 bridges spanning the river provide many walk variations and you will pass several places of interest along the route. Why not combine hiking and canoeing?
The northernmost part of the trail around lake Dalstorpasjön is the most maintained part and is recommended for beginners. The other parts of the trail are also good, but with a bit lower standard.

Near the trail, at Gölingstorp, you can stay overnight in idyllic surroundings in traditional timber cabins at Tunnbrödsstugan Gölingstorp, where there is also a bread bakery, and a café that opens by arrangement.
